A primarily self taught artist, Renee Koijane has been exploring the use of oils in her art on and off since the late 90's.  She gained some foundation through various classes taken at the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco State and Chicago's Lill Street School. Her current body of work is an experiment in reduction and embraces color and simplicity of form and thought; often filled with nostalgia for bygone times. Born and raised in a small town in upstate New York, Koijane moved to California after high school to attend UC Santa Barbara and is now deeply rooted in Lake Tahoe where she is raising her boys with her wonderfully supportive husband.
